"Organisations need to adopt a prevention-first approach to their cybersecurity"
Everfox has just launched the new 2025 CYBER630 Report.
As cyber threats continue to grow in sophistication and frequency, Everfox’s latest research unveils the increasing importance of safeguarding systems, data and people with effective security technologies.
The CYBER360 Report dives deep into the current US and UK cybersecurity landscape, detailing the most prevalent challenges that your customers are facing − and how they can combat them.
The overwhelming consensus of this report is absolute: Organisations need to adopt a prevention-first approach to their cybersecurity.
Why detection-based strategies can’t keep up
Amongst CYBER360’s critical findings, Everfox has discovered the alarming onslaught of cyber-attacks that regulated industries are facing.
In the last year alone, 97% of organisations in government, defense and other regulated industries suffered from a cyber incident. On average, these industries face 127 known attacks a week, rising to 135 attacks on defense and 156 attacks on healthcare.
However, these are only the attacks that these organisations are aware of or informed
Everfox of - the actual figure is likely much higher.
Your customer’s security teams are also becoming aware of the risk of insider attacks, with a third of Financial Services firms citing that a primary concern of theirs is the risk of an employee, contractor or trusted individual exploiting their authorized access to organisational data.
But it’s not just the volume of attacks that’s changing, it’s the sophistication of them, with ½ of IT Security Directors noting sophisticated threats as one of their main challenges.
The cause of such complexity has largely been brought on by the introduction and popularity of AI, which cybercriminals are leveraging to automate fast and scalable attacks. This has enabled attackers to analyse vulnerabilities and develop exploits in near real-time.
Meanwhile, large organisations are struggling to modernise their legacy systems, whilst the age of sensitive data sharing and interconnectedness is piling on the pressure for cybersecurity teams across the globe.
As a result, IT Security Directors have come to realise that detection-based technologies simply just can’t keep up anymore.
How to help your customers adopt preventative cybersecurity
71% of IT Security Directors today believe that detection threat technology is too slow at combatting cyber-attacks before any damage is done.
In 2024, US and UK organisations in regulated industries that suffered a cyber incident reported a detrimental $513,000 average cost in recovery − rising to $603,000 for healthcare organisations.
It’s clear that a shift in mindset towards preventative solutions is needed. The CYBER360 Report demonstrates that, in leveraging threat prevention solutions, organisations will be able to massively reduce their chances of costly data breaches and operational disruptions.
Such solutions include the likes of:
- Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) and Hardsec Solutions for securing networks with enhanced protection.
- User Activity Monitoring (UAM) and Behaviour Analytics to mitigate insider risks.
- Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) and Remote Browser Isolation (RBI) technologies to eliminate threats whilst maintaining data sharing processes.
However, it’s important to recognise that your customers may be hesitant to implement such changes.
When it comes to budgeting for preventative technologies, Everfox urges organisations to take a holistic view. Despite upfront costs, creating a stronger cyber defence with preventative technologies will reduce the risk of a costly attack (involving recovery, fines and loss of income) − it's a proactive approach for long-term security.
For your customers, the key to adopting preventive technologies is to prioritise those that integrate with their existing systems and partnering with a trusted and proven provider.
However, more than anything else, strong leadership is key to driving the change towards threat prevention technology. Overcoming resistance to change is critical, no matter how overwhelming, to aligning security goals with business objectives.
Be the leader your customers need. Read the report, share the knowledge and support organisations to defeat their cybersecurity challenges.
