Analog DevicesHMC441LC3B | GaAs pHEMT MMIC Medium Power AmplifierRF Amplifiers

An efficient medium-power amplifier capable of operating at frequencies from 6 GHz to 18 GHz (with 14dB gain) and requires no external matching components.

When it comes to medium-power high-frequency applications, the HMC441LC3B could be the solution for you. Capable of operating at frequencies from 6 GHz to 18 GHz, this amplifier is housed in a small 3×3mm SMT leadless package. The HMC441LC3B has a saturated power output of 21.5 dBm at 27% PAE, a gain of 14 dB and a 50-Ω matched input/output thereby not requiring external matching components for design-in. Ideal for military use (EW & ECM), this RF amplifier can be used in point-to-point radios, multipoint radios and LO driver for HMC mixers.

Evaluation Board

The HMC441LC3B can be evaluated with the Evaluation PCB 109712 available from Analog Devices, or the PCB needed for evaluation can be made with the use of the provided Gerbers. As with any RF design, the PCB used to evaluate the HMC441LC3B must use RF routing and placement techniques to enable the full potential of the RF power amplifier. This includes matching the input/output impedances, ensuring the input/output signal impedances are 50 Ω, the use of ground planes and plenty of stitching via, connecting coaxial connector shields to ground and mounting the PCB to a heatsink. The diagram below shows an example evaluation board demonstrating the use of decoupling capacitors, correctly spaced via and short input/output traces with guarding.

Filter out undesirable noise and retain important data when you use the general purpose amplifier HMC441LC3B buffer amplifier from Analog Devices! Its maximum power dissipation is 740 mW. This RF amplifier chip has a temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C. This product will be shipped in tape and reel packaging for quick mounting and safe delivery. It has a single channel per chip. This device uses a single power supply.
