Dev Kit Description
The RTX41xx WSAB (Wireless Sensor Application Board) is the building block of the RTX41xx Development Kit (DVK).
The WSAB consists of a Wi-Fi module provided on a small carrier board with sensors. The WSAB allows a developer to leverage the provided sensors to target unique applications. The WSAB could be considered as a solution for low volume production or system prototyping. No cables are provided as it is assumed the developer has already purchased a DVK
Application developers may build their own Co-Located Application using APIs defined by the module firmware and the CoLA framework. The application can be downloaded into the module for execution without having to modify the RTX41xx module firmware. When the CoLA application is loaded into the module flash, the system firmware detects the presence of the application and executes it as a single task running under the module's operating system. The CoLA concept makes it easy for application developers to build applications while still having access to all the features of the underlying system firmware through Application Programmers Interfaces (APIs).
Dev Kit Features
- RTX41xx module (pre-loaded with CoLA framework): The RTX41xx Wi-Fi Module small form-factor, single stream, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi module with on-board low power application processor, ready for the customers own CoLA application download.
- Two push buttons: Two push buttons for use as application user interface and development.
- Dual color LED (Red/Green): LED for use as application user interface and development.
- External sensor solder points: Connection point for external resistive transducer connected to RTX41xx ADC and analog comparator inputs. Can be used for connection of light sensor photo diode, NTC resistor etc.
- 3-Axis Accelerometer and Compass: Can be used to implement mechanical sensor and positioning applications.
- 28 pin expansion-/debug-connector: Expansion connector, with all RTX41xx IO’s available, for adding customized application add-on boards. Can be used for adding new sensor devices, power supplies etc. The connector also serves as a debug connector using cable provided in the RTX4100-DVK (not included when WSAB purchased individually).
- Power supply interface: The power supply supports multiple battery options as well as a lab supply for development.
- Current sensing resistor: A resistor in the ground path of the external power supply enables characterization of the current profile of the application simply using an oscilloscope
