Audio CODECs

An audio codecs is a device or computer program capable of coding or decoding a digital stream of audio. In software, an audio codecs is a computer program that implements an algorithm that compresses and decompresses digital audio data according to a given audio file coding format (i.e. MP3). The primary objective of the codecs is to break down a high-fidelity audio signal to a limited number of bits while maintaining the quality in order to reduce the space required to transmit and store the file. There is a basic process behind the conversion process. A time variant voltage signal is broken down into individual sections (or steps) where the voltage remains constant for a period of time, known as the sampling period. After signal preparation, every step is digitized by an analog to digital converter (ADC), which transfers the voltage into a binary representation, also known as quantization. At this point, sound effects can be added using digital signal processing. When the audio signal is ready to be heard, a digital to analog converter (DAC) is used to take the digital sequence of numbers (i.e. 000, 010, 101) and deliver a stepwise voltage signal. The resulting signal out of the DAC is then filtered to smooth the final analog signal.A sound card in a computer is an example of a device that may utilize an audio codecs, but they can also be used in recording devices, smartphones, tablets, and other portable devices. 더 읽기 읽기 안 함
