Phoenix Contact FINEPITCH board-to-board PCB Connectors
Phoenix Contact can be your one stop shop for PCB data and power connectors both outside and now inside your device! Brand new from Phoenix Contact, these high-speed data board-to-board connectors come in two different pitch variations of 1.27mm and 0.8mm pitches. They feature up to four different orientations (see figure 1) which are coplanar (PCBs are horizontal), mezzanine (PCBs are parallel), orthogonal (90 degrees), and wire-to-board assemblies. These connectors are ROHS compliant and UL component recognized, so you can be sure that they are safe and reliable to use within your device.
Below you will find applications and the five major benefits for both the 1.27mm and 0.8mm pitch PCB board-to-board connectors.
Markets and their Applications
Phoenix Contact board-to-board connectors fit into a multitude of markets and applications. Examples of markets include process automation, building automation, industrial automation, and information communication technology. Specific applications are I/Os, PLCs, frequency converters, controls, HMIs and more. These are all target markets that Phoenix Contact is familiar with and develops products within, so you can trust that these robust connectors won’t fail over time!

5 Major Benefits Are:
• Reliability
• Compact
• Flexibility
• Stability
• Pre-Assembled
Reliability
Within the connector, we’ve designed a unique double-sided contact system that has been tested to IEC standards. This contact system ensures a reliable connection in high vibration environments. The double contact system is also the ideal design for compact, close position connectors for high data rates. Our EMC shielded FP 0.8mm board-to-board connectors can achieve a data rate of up to 16Gbs in a compact and reliable form factor, while our FP 1.27 connectors can achieve data rates to 3Gbps. Along with that, the gold plating on the contact surface allows for up to 500 mating and un-mating cycles without diminishing any performance.
(Figure 2 – reliable mechanical and electrical connections thanks to the double-sided contact system on the FP 0.8 board-to-board PCB connector)
(Figure 3 – shows the robust 500 mating cycles in the coplanar connection style)
Compact
Phoenix Contact 0.8 MM and 1.27mm pitch board-to-board connectors offer various numbers of positions (12-80) in a compact, space saving design with various stack heights and wipe lengths so that you can connect all your PCBs inside one device. In the largest position size (80), the 1.27mm board-to-board connector measures only 1.68 inches in width while the 0.8mm measures 1.34 inches in width, taking up less space on your PCB than other products.
Flexibility
Board-to-board connectors from Phoenix Contact feature various stack heights with a variable wipe length range up to 1.5mm (figure 5). This refers to the distance between circuit boards when connectors are mated. This allows you to design your device with flexibility of how the printed circuit boards are orientated WITHOUT affecting performance!
Stability
The addition of solder anchors to the 1.27mm product adds extra stability so the board-to-board connectors do not tip over during the soldering process. These also reduce the mechanical strain of inserting and removing the plug section of the connector.
Pre-Assembled
The new 1.27mm board-to-board PCB connectors can be ordered pre-assembled with IDC flat ribbon cable to allow for immediate use in the device. Pre-order in lengths ranging from 0.05-0.95 meters in 0.05 meter increments. Cable lengths are rated to 105 degrees Celsius with halogen cable material available upon request. Various ribbon configurations can also be ordered as seen in Figure 8.
