The ADXRS620 is an automotive-qualified, single-axis MEMS gyroscope capable of handling up to 2000g of shock and high vibration rejection, all while being housed in a miniature 7x7-mm package (32-Lead CBGA). The ADXRS620 uses Analog Devices Inc. surface-micromachining process, which provides a low cost solution for a highly reliable sensor that can handle harsh environments with an operating temperature of up to 105°C. With its key application in the automotive industry, the ADXRS620 also integrates a digital self-test that can be initiated externally via pins ST2 and ST1. The self-test is highly advantageous on the ADXR620 - instead of injecting various signals into the sensor at defined points, the self-test instead excites the on-board mechanical sensor which, in turn, tests all other components on the chip, thereby ensuring the proper function of the ADXR620. The ADXR620 also integrates an on-chip regulator, runs off 5V power supply and requires external capacitors for decoupling.
