The 7805 range of 5V regulators are an industry workhorse but the L78M05ABDT-TR takes the 7805 further. With an impressive wide temperature range of -40°C to 125°C the precision regulator can supply up to 500mA, have a typical drop-out voltage of 2V (at 350mA) and an output voltage tolerance of 2%. With thermal overload protection and short circuit protection built-in, the L78M05ABDT-TR is a great choice of linear 5 V regulator that is reliable, with years of proven track record in the industry. While a fixed regulator, external components can be used to provide different output voltages and with additional circuitry, the L78M05 can be used for a wide range of circuits including AM modulated power.
