SX-6K3-EVK-SD Evaluating the Silex AR6003 Radio Module Has Never Been Easier. Selecting a Wi-Fi radio module that is right for your application can be a very long and tricky process as there are a number of Wi-Fi modules out in the market today. Not all wireless modules are created equal. So it becomes very important that one chooses a good evaluation kit and platform to evaluate and test the radio characteristics of the module.
Silex Technology has developed Wi-Fi modules based on Qualcomm Atheros radios for almost ten years and have been an Authorized Design Center (ADC) since 2010. Silex technology is one of a handful of ADC’s that has access to the Qualcomm Atheros radio firmware source. This privileged access gives us a unique ability to tweak/optimize/enhance the radio to meet customer specific needs.
Silex has released the SX-6K3-EVK-SD, which is an evaluation kit designed to provide the optimum platform with which to evaluate the Wireless Radio Module and Silex Radio Driver with the Freescale’s i.MX6 processor on the Sabre Smart Devices board. It is off the shelf, plug n play kit which makes the evaluation process very easy.
The SX-6K3-EVK-SD is designed to provide the optimum platform with which to evaluate the Wireless Radio Module and Silex Radio Driver with the Freescale’s i.MX6 processor on the Sabre Smart Devices board (MCIMX6Q-SDB). The evaluation platform includes the Silex Radio Driver, Security Supplicant and wireless tools to allow evaluation of the following:
- Wireless Connectivity Quality
- Enterprise Wireless Security Compatibility
- Radio Performance and Throughput
- Roaming Performance
- Confi guration Options
Software :
- Ubuntu Linux: SD card pre-installed with Linux Kernel 3.0.35 (Ubuntu 11.10)
- Pre-installed Silex Technology AR6003 Radio Driver/Security Supplicant: Silex Technology’s optimized AR6003 wireless driver auto loads on startup
- GNOME Desktop: OS image boots GNOME desktop automatically. AR6003 driver works with GNOME Network Manager to provide network access
- sxwlanconfig Utility: Silex wireless utility which provides additional radio control
- iperf: Provides a measurement of network throughput
- Linux Console Support: Access to the Linux console is available through the Serial to USB connector on the Sabre-SD card
