Difference Between Fixed and Variable Attenuators

Attenuators are used in RF and optical applications, and there are a few key differences between fixed and variable attenuators. Fixed attenuators decrease your system signal by a set amount, while variable attenuators enable a manual fixed signal adjustment over a range of fixed steps.
