Cree® XLamp® Extreme High Power (XHP) LEDs

Cree® XLamp® XHP LEDs, which include the XLamp® XHP35, XHP50 and XHP70 LEDs, are a new class of LEDs that deliver twice the lumen output and improved reliability compared to previous LEDs of the same size, enabling the next generation of LED lighting and reducing system cost by up to 40 %.

LEDs are no longer the most expensive portion of an LED lighting system (< 30 % of BOM). Therefore, the more effective way to achieve lower system cost is by using less of the non-LED items.

The XHP LEDs allows lighting manufacturers to drastically reduce the size and cost of lighting designs by using fewer, more reliable LEDs to achieve the same brightness, which results in fewer optics, smaller PCBs, smaller housings and less handling. XHP LEDs also achieve longer lifetimes even at higher operating temperatures and currents than previous LED technology, allowing lighting manufacturers to reduce heat sink size and cost without impacting the rated lifetime. The overall result are smaller, more innovative designs and significantly lower thermal, mechanical and optical costs at the system level.

Features

  • Industry’s first Extreme High Power LEDs
  • Double the light output of previous high‑power LEDs of the same size
  • Delivers lowest system cost through best lumen density, reliability and color consistency
  • Excellent L90 & L70 lifetimes, even in high stress conditions

Applications

High lumen directional lighting applications including:
  • Low/High Bay
  • Roadway
  • Stadium lights
  • Downlights
