What breakthrough technology and innovations will be introduced at CES 2020? After reviewing the latest exhibitor list and previews from CES Unveiled events this past fall, we’re eager to see what’s coming to CES this January in Las Vegas.
We’re especially interested in seeing how technology is having a widespread impact on improving the quality of life. Here’s what we’ll be looking for at CES 2020 in key product categories.
3D Printing
After first being shown at CES in 2014, 3D printing has made customization much more accessible. As 3D printing evolves with additional materials and new methods, the advances are impacting multiple industries. For example, dental resins allow labs to use 3D printing to manufacture highly accurate models, guides, and even full dentures. The speed and accuracy of 3D printing reduces wait times and meets tight tolerances. We’ll be watching for more 3D resin printing innovations this year.
Entertainment
In addition to the latest screen and smartphone technologies, CES is sure to showcase the latest innovations in virtual and augmented reality. Because the potential applications and benefits of virtual and augmented reality extend beyond entertainment into other industries like agriculture and manufacturing, we’re interested to see how the potential of this technology is evolving.
Health
In consumer healthcare, an innovative monitoring solution will be demonstrated at CES 2020. This exciting breakthrough allows baby monitors to use Time of Flight (ToF) technology from Analog Devices (ADI) to detect small movements and breathing patterns. The demo will also show how the Arrow ToF evaluation kit can be used to drive product development.

Digital health is expanding rapidly with technology advancements improving the quality of life through personalized diagnostics and treatments. Wearables are also increasing people’s ability to modify their behavior for improved heath. The Health and Wellness sector at CES will be huge and definitely a space to watch.
Fitness
Improving athletic performance and fitness has been a growing area for technology. We’d like to get a look at how the latest tracking devices, monitoring solutions, smart fabrics, personalization and sensors are impacting fitness.
Smart Homes, Smart Cities
We’ll be sure to check out the latest smart home solutions including security from Silicon Labs at this year’s show. We’re expecting to see more smart home devices with IoT intelligence. How will this year’s crop of smart home appliances and devices make life easier?
In addition to experiencing the latest in smart homes, we want to know more about how technology is helping to develop smart cities. We’re hoping to discover exciting digital innovations in the CES Smart Cities track.
How is 5G impacting smart city design? Which systems are being linked? How is data being standardized, collected, and communicated? How are privacy and security concerns being addressed? Smart cities are one of the most exciting technology disruptions happening right now. Digital utopia may still be too far into the future to envision at the moment, but helping people to find available parking without circling the lot more than once would surely be a nice start.
Vehicle Technology
The automotive segment of CES promises to be impressive as usual. Connected vehicles are promising to be a hot topic at CES this year. A demo from Analog Devices (ADI) will show how an autonomous guided vehicles can use Time of Flight (ToF) technology.
We’re expecting to see innovations in battery technology and electric vehicles as well as developments in autonomous vehicles. Advances in LiDAR sensor capabilities are sure to be featured. Where do we stand with safety and reliability in the latest vehicle technology?
5G Advances, Travel Innovations, Global Tech Challenge and More
We’ll expect to see AI, robotics, and 5G advances in multiple categories, plus announcements and predictions from keynote speakers.
CES 2020 promises to be filled with life-changing technology. Our challenge will be finding the time to see everything. In addition to the categories we listed above, the Resilience Marketplace is a designated space at the show where we can learn how technology is helping people around the world prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies.
Global technology is a key focus for CES this year, with the Global Tech Challenge launching at CES 2020. This partnership between the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and the World Bank Group is set to mobilize the tech community and create solutions focused on key development challenges through a joint global challenge.
