Silicon Labs introduces a complete portfolio of receivers/audio processors and multi-standard digital radio ICs designed to deliver best-in-class AM/FM and digital radio performance for the global car radio market. The Si47920/21 integrates an AM/FM radio receiver with audio processing. This analog AM/FM receiver sets a new standard for automotive broadcast reception.
The integrated audio processing Si47920/21 sub-system enables users to synchronize, process, aggregate, and distribute all digital and analog audio signals in the head-unit. The Si47920/21 is the most integrated monolithic IC in the industry with the smallest external bill of materials. Systems based on the device can scale from low-cost single tuner AM/FM radio to highest performance systems with multiple tuners and multiple antennas. This enables radio suppliers to reuse their R&D across multiple product lines, all with a common software API. The Si47920/21 meets rigorous automotive quality standards.
Si47920/21 features worldwide FM band support (64–108 MHz), worldwide AM band support (520–1710 kHz), LW band support (144–288 kHz), and SW band support (2.3–30 MHz). It also has an on-chip soft-decision RDS/RDBS demodulator/decoder. The device provides comprehensive AM/FM signal processing firmware and an integrated active FM buffer for background/data tuners. It features analog FM phase diversity with two, three, or four tuners (Si47921 Only). Si47920/21 offers fully integrated AGC for AM and FM inputs. The SI47921 has a digital I/Q interface to HD Radio processor with AM/FM HD Radio IBOC blend and fast FM HD Radio band scan.
The Silicon Labs Si47920/21 has HiFi2-EP Audio-DSP with 288 kB for program and data memory. It offers seven analog audio inputs, four analog audio outputs, and five digital audio ports (I2S). The device features as many as 24 synchronous or asynchronous sample rate converters. It includes multi-channel audio reference, as well as a frequency synthesizer with fully integrated PLL-VCO. Si47920/21 provides an integrated clock oscillator, a 1.8 V or 3.3 V digital power supply, and 3.3 V analog and 1.8 V digital power supplies. It is available in a QFN 84-pin, 12-by-12-by-0.85-mm package.
Silicon Labs’ 100-percent CMOS automotive tuners provide full receive functionality from antenna to audio for the automotive market. Each family includes a pin-and software-compatible portfolio of highly integrated receivers that support worldwide radio band requirements including FM, AM, shortwave (SW), longwave (LW), NOAA weatherband (WB), FM radio data system (RDS), and DAB Band III and L-Band. Si47920/21 is Pb-free, RoHS-compliant, and AEC-Q100 qualified. It is ideal for applications like automotive OEM infotainment systems and aftermarket car radio systems.
