Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance
Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance
Overview
For industrial companies, the cost of production slowdowns and stoppages can add up quickly, amounting to hundreds of thousands in lost revenue. By monitoring equipment during operations and then collecting and analyzing the equipment data, companies can optimize maintenance schedules to perform repairs at the right time. Condition monitoring refers to gathering performance and environmental data about equipment such as vibration, temperature, pressure, acoustics and fluid levels. Predictive maintenance is the use of analytics and machine learning/artificial intelligence to identify trends that indicate when a problem will occur in the future, and then plan to repair the problem at a time that is least disruptive to the business.
