ITT Interconnect Solutions has introduced a new circular connector under its Cannon brand for use in unforgiving military and aerospace environments.
The connector features proven bayonet coupling, and 100 percent scoop-proof contacts for blind-mate coupling—that is, pin contacts are recessed sufficiently so as not to be damaged if the mating shell is “scooped” into it during mating process. The connector adheres to stringent MIL-DTL-38999 Series 1 specifications, and is capable of operation within a temperature range of -65°C to +200 °C.
Connectors adhering to the MIL-DTL-38999 Series 1 standards are used in situations requiring quick disconnecting, or in other circumstances where mating cannot easily be seen. These connectors provide high-vibration characteristics and are suitable for severe wind and moisture problem (SWAMP) areas with proper connector accessories.
ITT Cannon’s KJM series connector offers improved manufacturing and process efficiencies to deliver a cost-competitive solution within such industries as commercial and military aerospace, military ground vehicles, military communications and systems satellites.
The new connector is compliant with Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directives. As appropriate, specific Cannon products may be ordered with an R prefix number which ensures RoHS-compliant parts for commercial electronics applications and equipment.
ITT Cannon’s new KJM series connector shell style characteristics include the following: wall-mounting receptacle; jam-nut receptacle; grounded plug; wall-mounting receptacle (back-panel mounting); and box-mounting receptacle (back-panel mounting) (Class E).
Available hardware finishes include bright cadmium over electroless nickel plate, featuring an operating temperature range up to +150 °C; olive drab cadmium over electroless nickel plate (temperature range up to +175 °C); and electroless nickel (temperature range up to +200 °C).
