RECOM Power specializes in a wide array of power module solutions. Whether you’re building your own IoT or medical imaging device, power modules can easily upgrade your design and reduce your time to market. Learn more about power modules in this October 2017 Supplier Spotlight with RECOM Power.
What is a power module and what are the advantages of using them?
A power module is a “black box” designed to provide efficient power conversion to deliver a controlled, safe and well-regulated DC power supply for a wide range of electronic applications. RECOM’s modules come with different pin options so you can easily “pick and place” on your PCB to optimize or replace a discrete power solution. The power supplies RECOM manufactures are separated into 3 main categories: AC/DC conversion, DC/DC conversion and switching regulators (DC/DC). They tend to focus on high efficiency, dependability and ease of integration as their key features in products, as these are typically most attractive for design engineers. Additionally, RECOM has implemented focus in industrial control, medical, testing, measurement, energy, transportation and lighting applications focusses in their power modules.
What are common issues for engineers that do not use a power module?
When developing a discrete power solution for virtually any application, an engineer or company will have to source all components and test them for various certifications depending on the application. This requires vast amounts of time, different methods of storage, transportation, handling, stocking, and other supply-chain details This effectively has a large impact on bottom-line and time to market.
Here are a few series by RECOM that can empower your design!
A high efficiency switching regulator compared to the old school solution…linear regulator. The output voltage is very accurate, only deviating +/-3%
Great for applications needing local power supply such as microcontroller, WLAN, Bluetooth, LoRa modules and IoT systems.
These AC/DC power modules accept universal AC inputs and have a large variety of different DC output voltage options.
These converters offer different isolation voltages based on your needs. Multiple pin layouts to easily fit into your design and even replace legacy components footprint-to-footprint.
