Low-Voltage Actuator could be the Future of ‘Soft’ Robotics

A research team from the University of California Santa Barbara may have found a way to marry electrically powered actuators commonly found in traditional robots, and their softer counterparts. The actuators previously used in soft robotics severely limited their use due to reliance on airflow or heat-differential. Now, researchers say, “the horizon is wide open.”
