Infineon IoT Security and Sensing Solutions

Discover the advantages of Infineon’s highly accurate DPS310 digital pressure sensor with industry-leading 5cm precision and their OPTIGA™ product family, offering multi-layer security for IoT applications. You’ll see how both can be integrated into a single application to accomplish even more in the Internet of Things.

As people, machines, and devices become increasingly interconnected in the Internet of Things, the need for connectivity is quickly growing across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, smart homes, Information & Communication technologies. The value chain in many industrial sectors is inefficient and often broken.  Infineon strives to help overcome these challenges with their unique portfolio of products.

Two of Infineon’s newest innovative products include the DPS310, a digital pressure sensor, and its highly secure OPTIGA product family, both inspired to address the challenges of IoT with powerfully unique approaches.

Infineon's DPS310 Pressure Sensor features an incredible 5cm precision, the best precision on the market today. Incorporating the DPS310 inside of a Smart Watch or Smart Phone can track the exact number of steps a person climbs or descends by measuring the change in atmospheric pressure between each step.. Tiny altitude changes of even 5 cm are easily tracked by the DPS310, opening doors to applications previously thought impossible.

In addition to the DPS310 is Infineon's 24GHz Industrial Radar, a key enabler to an extensive range of IoT motion sensing applications. In a smart home, radar can be used to detect a person’s presence for an armed security system, or it can be expanded to automatically control interior lighting with the use of motion-activated, touch-free switches. Outside the home, radar can be integrated into a Smart Street Light system that can dynamically and efficiently control traffic patterns based on cars' movements.

In the world of IoT where sensors are used to gather information and interconnected systems stand vulnerable to potentially critical cyber attacks, security is no longer optional. A successful attack can expose confidential information, intellectual property, trade secrets, and customer data. It can also interrupt operations and even endanger a company's brand image. That's why embedded systems and IoT networks need multi-layer protection that is a guard against remote attacks as well as protection against the type of physical attacks used in planning. This includes security features such as Authentication, Secure Updates, Boot Protection Platform Integrity, Key Generation and Management, Stored Data Protection, and Secure Communications managed from the protected isolation of a security chip. Infineon's OPTIGA™ Family spans the full range of security applications and simplifies IoT security.

When brought together into a single application, Infineon’s DPS310 and 24 GHz industrial radar, combined with OPTIGA security, can accomplish even greater things. For example, multicopter  drones have become essential tools across multiple industries, including construction, agriculture, real estate, news, consumer and more. Flight stability and collision detection is a necessity. Using the DPS310, a drone can maintain vertical stability using the sensor's 5cm precision. Collisions can be avoided using the radar to detect obstacles, while embedded OPTIGA security provides peace of mind against external attacksInfineon’s sensing and security solutions are built to tackle your IoT challenges.
