New AT&T solution provides satellite connectivity anywhere in the globe. Track IoT solutions if it’s on a cellular network or through satellite connectivity and have machine insight.
Hello, I'm Mike Troiano with AT&T's Internet of Things or IoT organization.
For years and years we've cellularly connected machines and Internet of Things or IoT devices all over the world. Our customers have been asking us for a long time to go beyond cellular and so one of the initiatives that we're launching right now is a satellite based tracking solution for IoT.
Think about heavy equipment tractor company or something that's used in a construction example. In today's environment through cellular technology, that company can monitor the health and wellbeing of that machine. But what if that machine goes to Alaska in a logging operation? Or it's sent to a mine in South Africa and there's no cellular coverage.
With our newest and latest solution we're providing satellite connectivity to those machines anywhere in the globe. Now, with AT&T services, these customers can actually track if it's on the cellular network or through satellite connectivity, still have insights into that machine. It allows us to offer to enterprise customers one of two solutions.
One is a single mode implementation that will always connect their assets to the cellular network. The other is a dual mode technology that allows our assets to utilize the cellular network when there is one, but if there's no cellular network to fail over or move the transport over to the satellite network.
So as an integrated provider, whether we're talking about cellular or satellite connectivity, AT&T offers one-stop shopping to enterprise customers as they enable their Internet of Things.
