Orion Fans is introducing a family of EC fans (electronically commutated) and blowers to meet the needs of designs requiring lower power, dual speed and energy-efficient cooling solutions for applications that demand more electrical efficiency. These fans are powered by brushless DC motors, also referred to as EC motors. In comparison, EC motors are more efficient than AC motors as their design uses magnets to create a secondary magnetic field in place of copper windings. EC fans meet stricter standards for energy efficiency in both the U.S. and European markets, making them a versatile energy-saving solution for a wider variety of designs. With a range in sizes from 60mm to 250mm, some of the fans in this new series from Orion Fans also feature universal voltage input. In summary, EC fans boast benefits such as maintaining the same interface between the fan and the appliance, using drop-in replacements for less efficient AC fans while lowering power consumption and eliminating sparking.
