LT8356-1: 100 VIN/120 VOUT LED controller with exponential PWM and scalable dimming

The LT8356-1 is a DC/DC controller designed to drive high-current LEDs. The fixed frequency, current mode architecture results in stable operation over a wide range of supply and output voltages.A voltage feedback pin serves as the input for several LED protection features and makes it possible for the converter to operate as a constant-voltage source. The LT8356-1 can implement boost, buck-boost mode, buck-mode, SEPIC, and flyback LED drivers. This product is also AEC-Q100 qualified.

Key Features and Benefits

  • • Supports high voltage LED strings up to 120 V with SSFM to meet stringent automotive EMI standards
  • • Internal exponential PWM dimming creates a smooth change in brightness over the complete dimming range without external microcontrollers
  • • Internal two-pin multiplied parabolic analog dimming helps match the exact brightness of two identical lamps

Applications

  • • Automotive: Automotive lamps
  • • Industrial Automation
  • • General Purpose: High voltage industrial lighting, airport runway, building, architectural lighting

Evaluation Board

The LT8356-1 can be evaluated with the EVAL-LT8356-1-AZ.
