Founded in 1951 in Minden, Germany, WAGO has pioneered innovative connection systems in electrical engineering and electronics. The idea for the first WAGO terminal blocks was born in 1951; the first terminal blocks with spring clamp termination technology were presented at the Hanover Fair the same year. Since then this pioneering technology continued to grow into an Industrial Standard.
WAGO is recognized as the market leader in Spring Pressure Connection Technology. This technology is incorporated into our entire product line of connectors and Industrial Automation products.
ELECTRICAL INTERCONNECTIONS and AUTOMATION: WAGO‘s two business divisions together define our extensive product offering.
The ELECTRICAL INTERCONNECTIONS business division emerged shortly after the establishment of the company in the 1950s. It included the first DIN rail mounted terminal block family with self-contained clamping units allowing the connection of both solid and stranded conductors (circa 1957).
In the 1990s, the AUTOMATION business division was added, which included the first fieldbus independent, modular I/O system - a.k.a. the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM.
While the success of WAGO is marked by the continuous growth and expansion of our comprehensive product ranges, it is our employees who fuel that success. Through their qualifications, commitment, ideas and enthusiasm, we are able to build upon our leadership position in the global market place.
WAGO now operates in over 80 countries, employs over 7000 people and operates 9 manufacturing facilities around the world. This infrastructure helps us meet the growing needs and demands of our customers.
