Texas Instruments, market giants in semiconductors and software, has just released a new USB power switch, the TPS2001DDGK.
Ideal for heavy capacitive loads and short circuits, both frequent occurrences with USB applications, the TPS2001DDGK has a speedy overcurrent response of 2 µs, a rated current of 2 A and a 9.0 mm2 footprint. This makes it able to fit into a variety of USB ports, be them in laptops, desktops or even HDTVs.
