How OMRON’s cool running G9KA relay enables efficient PCS design

OMRON Electronic Components Europe has introduced a compact, efficient 800 VAC/200 A high-power relay designed for power conditioners (PCS) associated with renewable micropower generation, as well as inverters and UPS applications.

Increasing use of microgeneration from solar and other renewable energy sources is leading to a growth in distributed power conditioners (PCS). These applications demand high energy efficiency as well as low heat generation. The new OMRON G9KA meets these demands and is an ideal relay solution for grid interconnection and safety interruption.

The G9KA benefits from an exceptionally low contact resistance for this class of relay at just 0.2mΩ, reducing the heat generated in the relay by over 30 percent compared with currently available equivalent devices. This facilitates thermal design and reduces design cost. The G9KA is also highly suitable for use in inverters and UPS systems.
