The Internet of Things is constantly evolving, growing, and getting more complex. To help ease the growing pains of the market, Arrow Development Tools offers IoT Development board solutions that can help designers get to market faster.
Among our large list of Arrow Development Tools development boards, we have built a list of our favorite and most popular IoT-ready boards to help you get started, or iterate, on your IoT design.
Quicksilver Evaluation Kit
The Quicksilver Evaluation Kit is designed to solve interoperability, compliance, certification, and testing conundrums of WiFi based IoT designs and proves to cater designs ranging from home appliances to smart building energy meters.
Quicksilver is built around Cypress’ CYW43907 wireless SoC, which is uniquely designed for IoT to begin with, and also powers the onboard Murata 1GC Wi-Fi Module. The CYW43907 chipset combines Wi-Fi connectivity and the application host processor into a single chip solution, which allows for lower power consumption and significantly lowers design cycle time.
As a clear distinguisher from other product, the Quicksilver kit takes advantage of Cypress Semiconductor’s Wireless Internet Connectivity for Embedded Devices (WICED) platform. This comprehensive SDK provides a large set of Wi-Fi connectivity libraries, protocol stacks, APIs, and an application framework. The WICED architecture allows users to eliminate the need for various Wi-Fi protocols since it has pre-integration of industry leading cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS, IBM BlueMix, and Microsoft Azure.
Tiger Board
The Tiger Board is a ready-to-use Internet of Things hardware for prototyping new devices. With an Arduino compatible footprint, it can be used with any Arduino compatible shield, opening its prototyping ability to be as vast as the Arduino ecosystem. The Tiger board is the first Arduino-compatible board running Thread, bringing industry leading IP-based mesh protocols to the Arduino universe.
The Tiger board features two different MCUs depending on the desired mode of operation. The ATSAMD21J18A-64 is a low-power microcontroller using the 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0+ processor and is the primary MCU when programming the Tiger board with the Arduino IDE. The other MCU on the Tiger board is he KW41Z from NXP, which is an ARM Cortex M0+ MCU that enables BLE and IEEE 802.15.4 RF connectivity. To utilize the KW41Z MCU as the primary microcontroller, the Tiger board requires the MCUXpresso IDE for programming to bring the board full circle.

Dustino
SmartMesh IP (DUST) Embedded Wireless Mesh Networking technology from Analog Devices features an exciting line of wireless chip and pre-certified PCB modules complete with ready-to-deploy mesh networking software. To start prototyping with these devices, Arrow Development tools and IoTeam created Dustino. This Arduino MKR formfactor development board is the key solution for prototyping Dust wireless technology and the Dusty IoT Module specifically. Dustino is Arduino IDE compatible, making firmware prototyping easy and familiar, allowing proof of concepts to be realized as quickly as possible.
Dustino is designed to act as a mote, which is the end device in DUST terminology, in a mesh networking system and packs the firmware to do so. It is designed to work in conjunction with the Dragonfly board, which acts as a cloud gateway. Keep in mind, there are two versions of Dustino – one comes with a PCB Antenna and the other with a U.FL connector for a personalized antenna.

Dragonfly
Equiped with Dusty, Sigfox, and Wifi, this wireless mesh IoT gateway makes interfacing with the Dusty ecosystem both indoors and outdoors possible. It can be used for indoor IoT systems such as building monitoring or hydroponics, as well as outdoor for applications such as agricultural, automotive, or nautical systems.
The Dragonfly board is Arduino compatible, making board supplementation easy and fast, but also features Microchip Cortex M0+ MCU and Crypto Authentication, ATSAMD21J18B-MU and ATECC508A-MAHDA, for native processing and security. It also features Microchip connectivity through their Sigfox and Wi-Fi Modules, ATAB8520E and WINC1500 respectively. Lastly, the board features the ADI-base Dusty module to enable SmartMesh IP Embedded Wireless Mesh Networking in your design.
