Polarized Power Relays: A small, million-fold step toward energy efficiency

Increased environmental awareness, but also the drastic price developments of the past months make the topic of saving electricity a sustainability issue, and more and more a cost factor. Yet, electrical designs offer an enormous number of opportunities to reduce consumption with the right components - the best example being compact but state-of-the-art relay technology from Panasonic.

Panasonic Industry polarized power relays have an integrated permanent magnet. Its magnetic field overlies the one generated by the coil and much less energy is needed to switch the relay. This results as well in more sensitive and smaller coils and hence an overall more compact design.

Moreover, Panasonic offers bistable types in which the ON or OFF state of a relay contact can be switched by a single impulse input. The permanent magnet holds the state that means there is no constant energy consumption at all. Therefore, polarized relays are undoubtedly highly efficient and contribute to improve the power consumption of your application.

With the almost infinite number of scenarios and switching operations, they represent an excellent opportunity to positively influence energy efficiency through the right choice of components.
