Precision DAC Lesson: Dynamic Performance Key Specifications

As more and more machines and mechanisms become IoT-enabled, the ability to efficiently and accurately control them becomes apparent. In this video, learn about the key dynamic performance specifications that increase value in precision digital-to-analog converters (DACs).

When looking at a precision DAC, it’s important to know the sources of noise in the output. Spectral density, measured in 1 KHz or 10 KHz, is used to represent noise in graph form.

    ● Output voltage noise, or 1/f noise, is measured peak-to-peak when looking at a spectral graph. 1/f noise is caused by the nature of the component design, impurities, etc.
    ● Thermal noise, also known as johnson or resistor noise, is generated by the thermal electron agitation.

In this video, learn more about these noise sources, as well as tests and measurements for their performance, faults, and errors.
