Pulse Electronics, innovators in magnetic electronic products, have released a new low-profile version of two of their existing battery monitoring system (BMS) switching transformers. The new isolation chips, the HM2112ZNL and the HM2113ZNL, feature a 1000 VDC working voltage with a 4300 VDC HI-POT isolation voltage. With an integrated common choke and center tap, Pulse’s improved BMS chips are ideal for electric vehicles, marine batteries, and even solar and other green energy storage options.
The HM2112ZNL is the low-profile version of the Pulse HM2102NL. The isolation chip sports six gull wing leads and a compact package. It has a >8 mm creepage distance and operates on two channels.

The HM2113ZNL is the low-profile version of the Pulse HM2103NL. The isolation chip sports three gull wing leads and a package that is slightly larger than the HM2112ZNL. It has a >5 mm creepage distance and operates on one channel.
Both new Pulse BMS transformers have a wide (-40 to 125 oC) operating temperature range and are designed to cooperate with Linear Technology’s 6820, 6804 and 6811 integrated circuits (ICs), as well as NXP’s MC33664 and MC33771 ICs.
