My name is Eric Leckrone, and I'm an applications engineer at the RG Group. At the RG Group we provide our customers with two different types of solutions. We are a distributor and we're a manufacturer.

The RG Group is unique because our 60 years of experience has given us the tools and knowledge to supply the best solution for our customers. On our manufacturing business, we provide our customers with turnkey solutions. Customers come to us when they need a solution to a problem that they've had trouble solving on their own.

Sometimes it's very small assembly, just with a little air compressor with some extra fittings on it, or sometimes it's a turnkey automated system. We'll address all kinds of situations. This is the solution we had before. We had three separate connectors, which was more complicated and not quite as robust as it could be for our customers.

In a mobile application these three connectors, they just started seeing a lot more physical stress and strain than what they're really designed to see. So when we dove into finding a solution for this problem, we ended up talking to one of HARTING’s vendors, who pointed us towards this product, and we got into contact with one of the HARTING reps who helped us develop this solution.

We didn't have to worry really at all about any sort of breakage. We have yet to experience any sort of failure on this component. We were able to consolidate our connectors into one concise profile. We're able to snap it on, we know it's a secure connection, we've had a lot of success with this.

Our customer is very happy with it, end users are happy with it, I don't regret anything. Working with HARTING was definitely a positive experience, I was able to send them questions, requested them to put together the initial bill of materials which made it easy. The Han-Yellok® connector kind of changed the perspective on our product, and kind of added to its quality image.

Having a robust connector on there, that we knew we could rely on and the customer could rely on helped improve the image of the product and the overall customer relationship. Our direct customer they love it. They've given us no feedback or indication that they want to switch to anything else in the future.

We're able to use this on all of our applicators all those products because we know that it will make our connection to any other generator portion of the product that we make in the future. The connection here is strong enough that you could lift up our device by the cable here. We don't have to worry about the snapping or giving under torque.

It's a rugged product that really keeps our solution simple for the customer, they have one connector that they have to plug and play, and it's highly modular so in the future, if we need to make any changes we can. We do realize long term cost savings with this connector because we don't have to worry about shipments going worldwide just because of a little connector that's failed.

Moving to this product from the old way we used to do it, basically represents how we want to solve problems for all of our customers. We not only find something that's better but, we add value to the solution by kind of attacking it from all different sides. We've essentially standardized this connector, for this entire application and manufacturing effort.

When I see an inventive modular design like this, it excites me as an engineer, because it presents versatility and a lot of options. I think more companies should think along these lines whenever they're finding design solutions for the customer.
