The DAQ2 board is a Giga Sample Per Second, analog to digital converter and digital to analog converter board. It's for people who want to do some data acquisition at really high-performance components. It's designed to be self-sufficient, so no clocking, no external power supplies or signal generator.
The DAQ2 board has the AD9680 on board which can run up to 1.0 Giga Sample Per Second, 14-bit dual ADC and also a JESD204B. It also has the AD9144, a Quad DAC, JESD204B as well. It's 16-bit and it can run up to 2.8 Giga Sample Per Second.
To run this demo, what the customer would need is an HDMI monitor, a keyboard and mouse, an FPGA board, and of course, our AD-FMCDAQ2-EBZ board. ADI has done a lot of work to provide the HDL code, to provide all the software drivers, to provide the operating system, and all the GUI. ADI works closely with MathWorks and Xilinx to provide a complete and general solution for our customers.
The DAQ2 board provides real-time data acquisition and transmission. Once you start acquiring large amount of data, having a partner like MathWorks and using MATLAB or Simulink is key for our customers to be able to analyze and process this data.
To duplicate the design, customers can go to the analog devices Wiki page and download the documentation, download the drivers, the HDL code, and the Gerber files and the schematics.
Once they have all this information, then it's up to the customer to either take sections of the design or the complete design to place it in their own final product. By adopting these latest converters, our customers will get the speed, they will get the bandwidth, they will get the performance, they will reduce the time to market. They will have tools they didn't have before to be innovative.
