Littelfuse is known as the expert choice for circuit protection, but they’re also an established manufacturer of semiconductors, and now they’re expanding their expertise to power semiconductors. The LFUSCD Series of SIC Schottky Diodes is an exciting addition to their semiconductor portfolio. Available in ratings from 650V to 1200V at currents ranging from 4A to 30A, it offers near zero recovery current, high surge capability, and a maximum operating junction temperature of 175°C—ideal for hybrid and all-electric vehicles and the electric grid.
Most people are keenly aware of Littelfuse’s portfolio of circuit protection products, but many don’t realize that we also have a very large portfolio of semiconductor products. For more than eighty years, Littelfuse has been an established company with an established footprint in the semiconductor industry, including semiconductor-based circuit protection solutions. And now Littelfuse is expanding in the direction of power semiconductors. This move is part of our aggressive endeavor of protect-control-sense, which includes Power Control and Sensing technologies.
Littelfuse’s entry in to the power semiconductor space will allow us to leverage, and link, our solid reputation of customer support and core strength of semiconductor circuit protection to power semiconductors. In short, Littelfuse is eager to build an undisputed preferred brand in the power semiconductor space.
One exciting addition to our power semiconductor portfolio is the LFUSCD Series of Silicon Carbide Schottky Diodes, featuring near-zero recovery current, high surge capability, and a maximum operating junction temperature of 175° C. When compared to their counter part of standard silicon bipolar power diodes, Silicon Carbide Schottky Diodes dramatically reduce switching losses and enable substantial increases in system efficiency and robustness.
These Silicon Carbide Schottky Diodes come in ratings of 650 volts and 1200 volts at currents ranging from 4 amps to 30 amps in either TO-220 two-lead or TO-247 three-lead packages, and are ideal for applications where improvements in efficiency, reliability, and thermal management are desired such as in both hybrid and all-electric vehicles and the electric grid.
