This CUI Devices in the Lab series takes viewers inside CUI’s engineering lab for a technical and application-based demonstration of AMT encoder technology. In this video, CUI Devices' VP of Application Engineering dumps non-conductive oil into an enclosure where optical and AMT encoders are running on motors. Watch to see how the output channels displayed on an oscilloscope are affected.
When starting the encoder selection process, users must first determine what environment the encoder will be operating in. This can be done by considering the temperature, vibrations, and exterior contaminants that may be present in the system. Optical encoders may be accurate in clean environments, but fall short when operating in more severe conditions. AMT capacitive encoders, on the other hand, excel at delivering both durability and accuracy.
