A carrier board reference design for the NVIDIA® Jetson™ edge AI and robotics platform.
Alpha revision of board shown. Subject to change.
JetCarrier96 is a reference design for OEM customers creating a custom carrier board for the #NVIDIA Jetson edge AI and #robotics platform. The board features the latest technologies commonly found in both advanced and simplified carrier board designs. In a modular fashion, customers can select to use all or only some of the included sub-systems. Complete power tree, clock tree, and the reset tree are available to adapt as need in the customer’s design. Area efficient power regulation from the incoming +12V is thoughtfully segmented and sequenced according to NVIDIA design guidelines and those of the underlying sub-systems.
A proof-of-concept development system
JetCarrier96 is ideally suited for proof-of-concept development projects. The microATX form factor carrier board features ample PCB board space to provide for generous peripheral expansion.
First, NVIDIA Jetson standard GPIO pins are connected to a Microchip PolarFire® FPGA to support use-case specific customization. The 96Boards Mezzanine can support various third-party expansion boards or customer specific expansion. Additional GPIO expansion for peripherals and sensors are supported with a Qwicc-compatible connector and MikroBus socket via a Microchip USB 3.2 Gen 2 SmartHub™ controller.
Second, a Microchip Switchtec™ PFX Gen4 Fanout PCIe® Switch offers the user four PCIe slots and one M.2 Key-M slot for solid state storage, LAN cards, FPGA cards, video capture cards, and other high-speed peripherals for healthcare imaging, software defined radios, and networking use cases.
Third, JetCarrier96 provides eight USB ports, four USB 2.0 HS ports and four USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports through two Microchip USB hubs to support keyboards, mice, USB cameras, and other commonly used USB peripherals.
Forth, two 15 pin camera connectors are available to support 2-lane MIPI CSI cameras. A 10 pin CAN header is supported if available on the users chosen NVIDIA Jetson module. Naturally Ethernet and display outputs are also available.
Fifth, the system is powered with a standard off the shelf and globally available desktop ATX power supply. For convenience, the PCB uses the common microATX standoff and PCIe slot locations to easily mount JetCarrier96 into a development chassis of the user’s choice. A header is provided for power-on switch, reset switch, and power LED duties at the chassis front panel.
