The Call for Code Challenge, now in its third year, has shifted focus to solutions for COVID-19, in addition to its commitment to fighting climate change. Arrow has been a sponsor and collaborator since the competition’s inception in 2018. More than 210,000 developers have participated, submitting more than 8,000 solutions. Arrow's sponsorship helps to support the global competition and assists in recruiting developers from around the world.

The Call for Code Challenge has announced an accelerated submission timeline to identify, build, and deploy solutions for COVID-19. The competition is open for submissions now with a final deadline of April 27, 2020. Judging will occur in August and September, while winners will be announced in October at a location and on a date to be announced.

COVID-19, which is caused by a novel coronavirus, now has spread throughout the world. Even in the most prosperous countries, the resulting pandemic is exceeding the capacity of healthcare and other systems in a matter of weeks. Technology is pivotal in society’s response to contain the pandemic. Some of the needs include more rapid and widespread medical testing, manufacturing more ventilators and other lifesaving medical devices, new online education platforms or helping communities best distribute food and personal protective equipment.
