ON Wireless Connectivity Solutions

ON Semiconductor offers a wide portfolio of Wireless RF Transceivers. They operate in the sub-GHz and 2.4 GHz bands, supporting Bluetooth® Low Energy, SigfoxTM, EnOcean, IEEE 802.15.4-2006, ZigBee, 6LoWPAN, Thread, WirelessHART, and ISA100.

ON Semiconductor’s RSL10 offers the lowest power consumption multi-protocol, Bluetooth 5 certified, radio System on Chip (SoC) in the industry. It comes with different packages to accommodate most any application:

  1. System in Package: an all-in-one fully certified solution for the easiest design in, with antenna, filtering, power management, and passive components
  2. QFN: qualified for consumer and medical applications
  3. Automotive QFN: wettable flank-plated QFN, AEC-Q100 Qualified Grade 2
  4. WLCSP: designed for applications where space is critical

RSL10 brings several benefits to a Bluetooth Mesh Network. It is the Industry’s Lowest Low Power Node (LPN) and can be configured for years of battery life. It can easily deploy Friend and Low Power Nodes with sample applications showing how to minimize power consumption. It is ready-to-use for standalone node applications with source code provided for sample applications.

RSL10 Bluetooth® Low Energy Mesh

In July 2017, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) released Bluetooth Low Energy mesh networking. The idea behind the technology is to support large-scale networks requiring “many to many” node connections. The RSL10 multi-protocol, Bluetooth 5 certified, radio System on Chip (SoC) has been designed and developed to be the best match for devices that require advanced wireless features, with minimal system size, maximized battery life, and now, Bluetooth mesh networking.

The Benefits of Using RSL10 In a Bluetooth Mesh Network

The RSL10 mesh software allows rapid development of ultra-low-power Bluetooth Low Energy mesh applications. In order to get an easy and quick start in deploying and configuring your RSL10 mesh network, sample code is provided for any combination of Proxy Nodes (to connect a mobile phone), Relay Nodes, Friend Nodes, and Low Power Nodes (LPN), with support for multiple LPNs per Friend. Comprehensive documentation guides you through the process of configuring and provisioning your first RSL10 mesh network.
