Spotlight on Eight of Arrow’s TOUGHEST Components

Pubblicato da

If you’ve got a tough environment and need sensors and components to match, look no further. I reviewed the top vibration-proof, temperature-resistant or otherwise rugged, environmentally robust Arrow.com components to bring you some of the toughest products on our site. Let’s take a look.

8. Industrial Pressure Sensor from Honeywell

The PX2 Series of heavy duty pressure transducers has an IP69K ingress protection rating, meaning they can withstand high pressure, high temperature wash-down commonly required in industries such as food processing where hygiene and cleanliness are paramount. This is also important for harsh environments heavy in dirt and debris to ensure this dust and water cannot penetrate the sensor’s casing and cause failure. The PX2 pressure transducers are compatible with a variety of harsh media, including brake fluid, refrigerant, engine oil, hydraulic fluid, tap water, and compressed air. They are fully calibrated and compensated for transducer offset, sensitivity, temperature effects, and non-linearity using an on-board ASIC, providing a total error band of just ±2%. The wide operating temperature range (-40° to 125°C or 257°F), IP69K rating, and 100 V/m radiated immunity allow for reliable performance in the toughest environments.

7. Hazardous Location Power Supply from Delta Electronics

Need an industrial power supply for a Class 1, Division 2 location with risk of flammable or combustible gases, liquids, vapors, or debris? Electrical equipment installed in these locations should be specially designed and tested to ensure they won’t initiate an explosion. The CliQ DIN rail power supply series from Delta features a conformal coating on the PCBA to allow certification to ATEX and Class 1, Div 2 for use in these extremely hazardous locations. The rugged, full corrosion-resistant aluminum casing will withstand harsh industrial environments and is both shock and vibration resistant according to IEC 60068-2 standard. These tough power supplies include overvoltage, overcurrent, over temperature and short circuit protection as well as a built-in power boost of 150% for 3 seconds, enabling on-hand reserve power for reliable startup loads with high inrush current. The CliQ Series of rugged power supplies is perfect for applications in renewable energy, oil and gas, semiconductor, and IT.

6. Vibration Proof High Power Resistors from Welwyn Components

In need of a high power resistor that can withstand extreme mechanically stressed environments? This BPR Series of 3W to 30W planar shock and vibration proof resistors offers superior vibration durability. The RoHS compliant resistor family features a thin non-inductive planar package for high density PCB installation. The resistor is designed to allow above board power dissipation. Applications for the BPR Series include use as power supply pre-load resistors, pulse generator load resistors, and bleeder resistors as well as for use in UPS systems, pulse handling circuits, and in-rush current protection.

5. Wash-down Rated Cordsets from Molex

Did you know that even if your connector-type industrial sensor is rated to IP69K ingress protection, high pressure wash-down rating is only guaranteed if the connector cable you pair with it is also IP69K? The 120080 Series of industrial cordsets from Molex features an IP69K rating to ensure your pressure, photoelectric, or proximity sensor maintains its high protection level against liquid ingress. The cordsets are available in both standard M8 and M12 industrial connector sizes and offer either a standard PVC jacket or a PUR material jacket for abrasion and fluid resistance. The 120080 Series features double-ended female-male connectors, but singled ended types are also available from Molex. These cables include the patented push-to-lock Ultra-Lock® connection technology for a simple and secure connection. Altogether these are the perfect connector cordsets for your sanitized plant-floor application!

4. Hazardous Location Relay from Phoenix Contact

Need a plug-in miniature power relay for use in a Class 1, Division 2 hazard location that is at risk due to potentially combustible or flammable media? This intrinsically safe 24VDC single relay, with power contact and 2 PDTs is approved for such use in Class 1 Div 2 and ATEX (Zone 2) environments. It is ideal for use in the oil, gas, mining, chemical process, and pharmaceutical industries.

3. High Temperature Antistatic Masking Tape from Desco Industries

Are you looking for a high temp ESD tape for masking during wave soldering or protective applications on printed circuit boards? With a temperature resistance up to 135°C (275°F) for 45 minutes max, this high temp masking tape can be exposed to extreme temps for an extended period of time without leaving residue when removed. The low charging crepe paper (7.0 Mils thick) with high-tack rubber adhesive has minimal charge retention, making it safe to use around most ESD sensitive items. With a surface resistance of just 1 x 108 to < 1 x 1012 ohms, the tape is tested per ANSI/ESD S11.11 to meet dissipative limits of packaging standard ANSI/ESD S541.

2. Intrinsically Safe Fuse from Littelfuse

The PICO® 259-UL913 Series offers a range of encapsulated fuses certified under UL 913, the standard for intrinsically safe electrical equipment, to operate in hazardous locations. They are designed to limit the energy and temperature generated during operation. Their fuse design and sealed encapsulant are suitable for use in intrinsically safe apparatus and associated apparatus for voltage not exceeding 125V rms (190V peak). Applications for this tough fuse family include testing, measurement, or processing electronic and electrical equipment in the oil, gas, mining, chemical process, and pharmaceutical industries.

1. High Temperature Wire-Nut® Wire Connectors from IDEAL Industries

Ever experience a small flame from a spark or short circuit when a twist-on wire connector isn’t properly specified for the high-wattage splice? These high temperature, flame retardant wire-nut® wire connectors from IDEAL can perform in environments of extreme temperatures without failing to protect the wire connection. They feature a black, thermoplastic shell designed to withstand extreme heat build-up found in high-wattage light fixtures and signs. The wire connectors are CSA and UL Listed up to 150°C (302°F) and cover wire ranges from 22 to 12 AWG. They are rated at 600V max in building wire and 1,000V max in fixtures and signs.
